BAPTISM – THE FIRST SACRAMENT OF INITIATION
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” – Matthew 28: 19-20
New life is in your midst and it is truly a gift from God. How blessed are you and your family to be able to experience the love of God in such a special way. We hope that through the Sacrament of Baptism you and your loved ones will grow in the Faith of the Church and be open to receive all the graces that are so freely given by the Holy Spirit at this time. God’s blessing be upon you and all your family. We are so happy to welcome this special child into the Church.
For information and guidelines for the Sacrament of Baptism please read our Parish Baptism Information Brochure. If you have any questions please send an email to Ivy Willing in the Parish Office or call her in the parish office at 813-839-5337 Ext. 114.
If a child is seven years or older, generally considered the age of reason, there should be a period of formation prior to the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. If you have any questions please send an email to Deacon Ben Hooks in the Parish Office or call him in the parish office at 813-839-5337 Ext. 206. BAPTISM VIA RCIA
RCIA – FOR FAMILIES
Sometimes, for any number of reasons, one, two, or even all the children in a family may not have received their sacraments at the same time as their peers. We welcome those parents and families who decide to bring their children to the church to participate in the sacraments given to us by Jesus Christ. We gather the families together and address each of the needs presented. Through a flexible program, we assist in preparing the family for any or all of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Last year, we had five families with 12 children who completed their Sacraments through this program derived from the USCCB’s “RCIA adapted for Children.”
RCIA – RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
RCIA is an adult and family process of preparation for reception of the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist). RCIA meets on Sunday mornings and/or several afternoons during the month. The RCIA process is flexible and tailored to the needs of candidates who proceed through the process at their own pace. Generally, a new class begins each September, however, many factors may require adjustment of the schedule so we welcome your inquiries at any time of the year. Adults who wish to enter the Church should contact Mr. Joseph Brown or Fr. Stan Holland, T.O.R. If you have any questions please send an email to Mr. Joseph Brown or call the parish office 813-839-5337. You may also visit our RCIA page.
