Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord
Friday, April 10, 2020
Fr. Salvator M. Stefula, T.O.R.

My dear parishioners of St. Patrick,

Greetings and blessings in the Lord! Today we gather in our homes to reflect on the Passion of the Lord on this Good Friday. As we hear the passion account from the evangelist St. John, our hearts are filled with sadness for the cruel treatment of Jesus. He carried the heavy weight of the cross and He endured so many insults and was treated as a criminal. Before Jesus died He raised His voice to heaven and said. ”Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing.” How many times in our lives have we held on to hurts or grudges and found it difficult to forgive? Lord Jesus, give me the grace to forgive and to ask for forgiveness when I have hurt others.

The church will be open from 8 AM- 12 Noon. We invite you to come and spend some quiet time in prayer and perhaps you would like to pray the Stations of the Cross. I will have the booklets available on the table at the entrance of the church. Please also visit our Parish Website to view the Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord ONLINE at 3PM.

Please note that the Blessed Sacrament will not be reserved in the church today, Good Friday. We are to experience the void of Christ not being present until the feast of Easter. His glorious resurrection!

Finally, I wish to express my sincerest gratitude to all of you who have been so faithful in your church contributions to help us in this difficult time. Many have chosen to utilize ON LINE GIVING. I encourage you to continue this even when we return back to normal. I have had to make some temporary changes in staff salaries and reduction of hours and your continual sacrificial giving is allowing us to still meet our expenses.

May the Lord Jesus bless each of you and be assured that you are remembered every day in my Mass and prayers. May I humbly ask for your prayers?

Fr. Sal
